Our product is made in both NZ and China. The China-made product comes from factories that Annah visits often (3 times a year at least). All of our China based factories are small, owner operator enterprises so we know the owners personally. The working conditions easily match the conditions of our Auckland based factories.
Let's face it: laundry day isn’t the most thrilling of tasks. But when it comes to your beautiful new Annah Stretton purchases, a little love and attention can keep them looking their best for years to come. We’ve put together a few tips to care for your new wardrobe favourites.
Please ALWAYS make sure to follow the specific care instructions provided on each garment's care label.
Always use a washbag, Annah Stretton has two sizes in washbags and a myraid of goregous and affordable prints to choose from.
We suggest you invest in an affordable steamer many of the appliance chain stores have well priced options that are worth investigating.
Cotton: The Trusty Companion
Cotton, the fabric we all adore. To keep it happy, wash it at cooler temperatures to prevent shrinking. Steam at a higher temperature if needed to maintain that crisp look. Wash colourful cotton garments separately to protect the vibrancy. Air-dry flat, as they’re not fans of direct sunlight, which can cause fading.
Viscose: The Delicate Darling
Viscose, the fabric that needs a little extra care. Handwash in cold water to keep it looking its best. To machine-wash successfully, always turn inside out, use a AS wash bag, and wash in cold water. Do not tumble dry, they appreciate a more relaxed lifestyle. Try to avoid pegging them on the clothesline, as the pegs can leave indentations when the fabric is wet. Handle them gently and steam on a low heat for the best results. Viscose will shrink in the wash , but this can be pressed out to gain the original shape.
Linen: The Crisp and Cool Friend
Linen, the embodiment of effortless elegance. Wash in cold water to prevent shrinking and keep the natural beauty of the fabric intact. Wash colourful linen garments separately to protect the vibrancy. Keep them away from direct sunlight. Avoid fabric softeners - linen becomes softer with use. Do not tumble dry. Use a steamer to refresh the fabric before folding or hanging.
Lyocell/Tencel: The Sustainable Sophisticate
Lyocell, also known as Tencel, is the fabric that loves the environment as much as you do. Machine wash in cold water, and line dry. Steam lightly on a VERY low setting.
Wool: The Cozy Comfort
Wool, treat it right by handwashing inside out in warm (not hot) water with a wool-friendly detergent. Dry it flat, away from direct sunlight. If it's wrinkled, use a steamer on the reverse side to smooth things out. Fold and store with care to keep its shape and softness intact.
Polyester: Mrs Resilient
Polyester is known for its durability and strength. They thrive in cold washes, so keep the temperature low. Some fabrics maybe sensitive to heat (velvet), so use a steamer on a low setting. They're fade-resistant and highly reliable.
always check the care label.
Elastane, Spandex & Lycra: The Stretchy Squad
These stretchy heroes deserve your attention! Wash them in cold water to preserve their elasticity and shape. Using a mesh garment bag is a great way to prevent overstretching. Line dry for the best result, and to keep them in shape, and they’ll keep you comfortable and looking fabulous.
Denim: The Timeless Classic
Denim, the icon of casual style. To keep it looking sharp, machine wash it inside out to preserve the colour. Wash in cold water and line dry. Dissolve detergent before washing to avoid any staining. Line dry inside out or use a low-heat tumble dryer. If needed, use a steamer for that perfectly polished look. Most demin garments will ahe been pre-washed as part of the production process.
Delicate Fabrics: Treat with TLC
Fine chiffons and mesh knits may require require extra love. Always follow their care instructions diligently. When handwashing, swirl them gently in a bucket—no wringing or harsh handling. A light steam (where needed) will get them back to almost new.
There you have it—laundry day, elevated! With these tips, you can keep your beautiful pieces looking their best for longer, so you can continue to enjoy them with confidence.
